The Giants had the four points stolen right from under their noses last week against Melbourne, but any axe swung by Leon Cameron will be done so safe in the knowledge there is depth aplenty in the reserves.

Nevertheless, we predict only two looming changes when Greater Western Sydney meets Geelong in Canberra on Sunday afternoon.

One of those changes should be up front. Star goal kicker Jeremy Cameron remains suspended until round five and the Giants were left wanting inside 50 for a key target in round one. No Giant kicked more than two goals against the Demons and despite being the central figure in front of goals for his side, Adam Tomlinson was not one of them.

The 197cm, 95kg tall forward had just nine disposals, four marks and failed to kick a major in the Giants’ 2-point loss, whilst fellow big man James Stewart had only four disposals, two marks and kicked a behind.

But as if on cue, the unlucky Jonathon Patton put his hand up to replace one of the forward pair. The hulking forward booted a bag of five goals in the NEAFL on Saturday, often marked by Swans premiership defender Ted Richards. Though returning from injury, Patton will be hard to deny should a change be deemed necessary.

The second inclusion is likely to be one through the midfield. Somewhat surprisingly left out of the Giants’ team last week, Stephen Coniglio is almost guaranteed to return to senior action against the Cats – though who makes way is not so clear cut.

Emerging midfielder Jack Steele was quiet against the Demons with just 11 disposals and could be the most likely candidate to slip out, though Toby Greene could make way if the coaching staff choose to send a message – his 12 disposals well below par for the highly rated on-baller.
