GEELONG coach Chris Scott hasn't given a moment's thought to the way Adelaide lined up for the national anthem ahead of the Crows' qualifying final over GWS.

The whole discussion about the Crows' adoption of a power stance during the national anthem, that commentators interpreted as a pre-game attempt to intimidate Greater Western Sydney, escaped Scott.

But for the sake of the conversation, he was prepared to give the Cats' view in the build-up to the massive clash at Adelaide Oval.

"We're not linkers in the ceremony for the national anthem. We just stand side by side. It's not being disrespectful to the sides who do link. We're just not linkers," Scott joked on Wednesday.

The coach agreed it was something he would need to get up to speed with.

"We'll have to reconvene and put some thought into it," Scott said.

Not only did Scott reveal the Cats weren't linkers, he admitted he did not sing during the national anthem either.

But the coach's reasons for refraining from giving full voice to the anthem were practical rather than philosophical.

I know I am putting myself on the line here because there are a lot of patriotic people who think that you should sing during the anthem, but it's more just respect for the people next to me," Scott said.

"If you'd heard me sing you would quickly change your view on whether I should sing or not."

He gave the distinct impression that the only song he might sing would be the Cats theme song if it was played after the final siren on Friday night.
