No surprise Motlop
Chris Scott confirms that he's not surprised by Steven Motlop's improvement on Tweet the coach
Cats TV met with Chris Scott for Tweet the Coach where he spoke about Steven Motlop’s on-field development and Josh Hunt’s return to AFL.
Motlop has undoubtedly increased his workload since Travis Varcoe was sidelined early in the year and each week the young forward continues to impress.
However, Scott is not surprised with his outstanding efforts and consistent development, which became evident during preseason training.
“It hasn’t really surprised me, we have the luxury of being able to see Steve perform on the training track everyday and his preseason form was outstanding, his preseason performance the year before was outstanding too to be honest,” Scott said.
“With Trav going out unfortunately a bit more responsibility has fallen onto Steven’s shoulders, but he’s doing a really good job at the moment.”
Whilst the younger players continue to show signs that they are ready to play at AFL level, Scott explains that veteran, Josh Hunt, is still considered to be a very important part of the team.
“We’re really excited about the things that Jackson Thurlow can do and Jordan Schroder can do, and I think we’ve got a couple of guys at VFL level that you’ll see over the next month or two come into our AFL team, but specifically with Josh, he’s a very important part of our 22," Scott explained.
“I’ve said publicly in the last couple of weeks that on form he is certainly in our best 22 but he’s just been so compromised through this preseason that we would rather give him a long preparation before he comes back in the AFL team, it’s almost a guarantee that he’ll come back in at one stage."
