Dan Lowther on ... forward 50 entries
Our entries were quite shallow at times. I thought their defence held up really well. The message at half-time and three-quarter-time was that we need to get the ball inside 50 deeper, to give ourselves the chance to score. I thought we got that in the last quarter in particular.
Dan Lowther on ... THAT Prespakis goal
For (Georgie) Prespakis to take her moment was something she built from from last year. It’s exciting for the club.
Dan Lowther on ... the Cats' midfield
For 'AMac' (Amy McDonald) to play the way she did, and finish strong, is really important. Well supported by Nina (Morrison), Julia Crockett-Grills, Becky Webster and 'Pres' of course. I thought our rucks did a great job in battle against theirs.
Dan Lowther on ... Claudia Gunjaca's role
Claudia Gunjaca going back to fill a role that has been vacated, she showed in the last three minutes how important she is at a contested ball.
Dan Lowther on ... the scoreboard
After the Gold Coast game where we seemed to score quite freely, I was expecting us to have a similar effect on the scoreboard. I thought the game was played too live tonight – it was a lot of up and down between the arcs. Something we talked about at half-time was to get a bit more control and I thought we got that.
Dan Lowther on ... Meghan McDonald's game
She was a rock … for Meg to stand up in that third quarter in some real crucial one-v-ones, there were a couple of times there she ran forward and it was like, ‘Oh, how is this going to work?’ and the ball, she just trapped it and did really well. To then have the composure to find a free (player) and kickstart the attack from our D mid, there’s no surprise why she’s a good player.
