Patrick Dangerfield and Tom Stewart will again lead the Geelong Football Club, with the pair reappointed captain and vice-captain for the 2025 season.
It will be the third successive season that Dangerfield will captain the Cats, after taking over from Joel Selwood following the 2022 Premiership.
Stewart was elevated to vice captain alongside Dangerfield in 2022, returning to the role for a fourth straight season.
Geelong Cats Executive General Manager – Football Andrew Mackie said:
“We are grateful to have strong and influential leaders in Pat and Tom, people who will continue to lead our football program and club into 2025,” Mackie said.
“They are not only influential leaders on the field, but they are key drivers of high performance and Geelong’s contribution to the community.
“Our entire playing group, football program and broader staff are fully behind them as they lead our AFL team in 2025.”
Dangerfield, who became Geelong’s 54th VFL/AFL captain in 2023, has been a key figure since joining the Cats’ leadership group in 2016.
An eight-time All-Australian, a Brownlow Medallist (2016), and three-time Carji Greeves Medal winner, Dangerfield has played 337 games, including 183 for Geelong, and was an integral member in the Cats’ 2022 premiership success.
Tom Stewart, who debuted in 2017, made an instant impact and joined the leadership group in third season.
A five-time All-Australian and dual Carji Greeves Medal winner, Stewart averaged 21.5 disposals, 6.1 marks, 7.3 intercepts, and 5.5 rebounds per game in 2024, further cementing his status as one of the league’s premier players.
