GEELONG says scans for injured speedster Max Holmes were encouraging as the young Cat ran laps of GMHBA Stadium in front of a packed open training crowd this morning.
Cats fans gave Holmes a standing ovation as the 20-year-old winger moved well, just days after being subbed out of Geelong's Preliminary Final win with a hamstring injury.

Coach Chris Scott told media that the club was optimistic about Holmes' chances of lining up against Sydney on Saturday and scans of the hamstring in question haven't extinguished that hope.
"Max has presented well early in the week, completing running sessions as planned and pleasingly his clinical signs on assessment are encouraging," head of medical and conditioning services Harry Taylor says.
"We will continue to manage him accordingly, with a call to be made on his availability later in the week."
