After missing the bulk of last season due to injury, Oli Wiltshire has bounced back with a spectacular start to the 2025 VFL season.

The small forward has kicked five goals whilst averaging 20 disposals per game in two matches, which is double his disposal average from 2024.

He has also assisted his team with 17 score involvements across his first two games, playing an essential role in Geelong’s success so far.

Wiltshire’s brilliant start to the year has drawn high praise from Geelong’s AFL coach, Chris Scott who was asked about the emerging star in this morning’s press conference.

“He is becoming very hard to ignore," Scott said.

"He is doing everything that he can do, I just want to be a little bit cautious of building him up too much.

"I think it is very likely that if he keeps going the way he is, he will get his chance. Long term from what we can see, he has the capacity to be a really good AFL player."

Wiltshire shared his personal focus before and during the season, that has helped him to perform at a higher level.

“Just running, my running power, staying in between contests, staying dangerous, getting use when I can, and also ball drop stuff that I've worked on during the year,” Wiltshire told Cats Media.

“I have also worked on form, craft, pushing my opponent away from the contest so you can hit the pack at speed and crumb goals as a small forward."

Wiltshire expressed his gratitude playing alongside the likes of Mitch Duncan in the VFL, and how that has impacted his experience this season.

“Those boys have got so much experience," Wiltshire explained.

"I think 'Duncs' is a couple games shy of 300 games in the AFL and just his leadership around the ground, he is really composed as well with the ball.

“He is so special to us and we'd like him to be playing AFL, but when he comes back he buys into the team 100%.

"He is happy to be in and he is happy to get around the young boys as well which is really good.”
