Geelong’s VFL Women’s program is up and running for 2023, with pre-season training underway.

The Cats are inviting local footballers wanting to test themselves at state league level to get in touch and get involved with the VFLW program in 2023.

Geelong’s VFLW side has enjoyed great success in recent years, with back-to-back finals games, as well as a host of players being recruited to the AFLW, including Claudia Gunjaca, Liv Fuller, Annabel Johnson and Melissa Bragg.

Recently-appointed Cats VFLW senior coach Elise Coventry said the program is a great opportunity for footballers with a range of goals.

“If footy is something you’re pursuing and you’re doing well at local league, I think it’s a great challenge to step up and play for the state league competition, or at least train at that level and see where you fit,” Coventry said.

“We’re always willing to have new girls come along and train with us and help develop their football, whether that’s coming and playing with us or taking that back to their local league, I think that’s a great opportunity to test yourself out.”
