During its four years of operation, the Deakin Cats Community Centre has welcomed over 80,000 people through the doors. The hub for delivery of the club’s Community Foundation and Engagement Programs including BioCATS, Just Think, Cyber Cats, and Wada Nyooro, hit the 80,000 milestone during yesterday’s first Open Day, which saw over 4,000 people visit the stadium.
In proud partnership with Deakin University, this purpose-built facility contributes to the club’s community vision for greater engagement with the broader Geelong community, by providing a free, state of the art facility. The Centre is home to the Past Players and Officials Association and houses the clubs memorabilia in the Gartland Heritage Centre. There have been over 117 different community organisations that have utilised the Centre to achieve health and wellbeing outcomes for the community, 34 of those in 2017 alone.
The Deakin Cats Community Centre is one of the ten Cats in the Community programs which help empower young people to make good choices about their health and wellbeing.
We thank Deakin University and the broader Geelong community for its support over four successful years.
