After yesterday’s recovery session Swans defender, Nick Smith, said the Swans are looking forward to playing on the Cats' home stage at Simonds Stadium, before returning to Sydney to face Hawthorn at ANZ Stadium for the closing Round.

Last time the Swans won at Simonds Stadium was in 2011 by 13-points, and before that was Round 8 in 1999. Since then the Cats have won 16 games against Sydney out of 23.

Smith concedes that playing Geelong at home is never easy, however he confirms the Swans are feeling confident and playing footy away from home doesn’t faze them.

“I don’t think we really fear going to play anywhere,” Smith told www.sydneyswans.com.au

“The Cats down at their home ground is always a tough challenge.

“I think we’re all really looking forward to it.

The Grand final is in Melbourne, so we’re going to have to play finals away.”

Smith, who raked in 10 disposals and five tackles last time he met the Cats at the SCG in Round 4 this year, says the Swans will benefit from meeting the two top teams before finals.

After the Cats’ clash, the Swans will greet the Hawks at home.

“Personally I’d prefer to play the two best sides (rather than lowly positioned teams),” Smith said.

“We did is last year and we lost three of our last four.

“But in saying that, we started playing some really good footy.

“It’s perfect preparation, playing the two topsides.

“It’ll get us in good habits and it’ll be finals like pressure. It’s a great lead up to September, but we’re just focused on the game.

When Smith was asked if he believed the Cats’ small forwards were the best in the competition he said, “They’re definitely up there.”

Cats and Swans will kick off at 4:40pm this Saturday at Simonds Stadium.
