Cats’ defender, Harry Taylor, chose to introduce one of his own idols from Fremantle to examine on this week’s episode of Opposition Breakdown.

For many years Taylor has watched the Dockers’ key defender, Luke McPharlin, to help him perfect his own game in defence.

“He’s a champion player and I really respect him, look up to him and I try and watch a lot of him to learn how to go about it,” Taylor said.

According to Taylor, McPharlin is the ultimate defender and holds every important facet required.

“He’s outstanding defender only conceding one goal this whole season, which is quite unbelievable considering he’s played over 11 games,” Taylor explained on Cats TV.

“He’s really strong, he’s really agile and he’s also extremely quick; all the attributes of what a great defender needs.

“Another strength of his, he’s a really good attacking weapon for the Fremantle footy club.”

McPharlin, who began his AFL career 13 years ago, has been ranked as the number one marking defender in the competition for 2013 so far, taking a total of 98 marks this year.

Taylor confirms that McPharlin will be one of the Cats’ main obstacles in the clash against Fremantle this Saturday night.

“Who ever is going to be on him at different stages of the game needs to just prepare as best as they possibly can because they are going to be up for a really tough challenge,” Taylor said.
