Scott keeps it consistent
Senior coach, Chris Scott, says the Cats don't focus on the scoreboard results but key areas of play, even after a loss
Cats TV caught up with senior coach, Chris Scott, for Tweet the coach, where he answered five of your questions.
This week he spoke about game preparation after a loss and the process he takes when a player is performing poorly.
Despite coming from a loss, Scott explains that their game preparation doesn’t differ from the week before. He says discussions are focused on which areas they can improve on and not the result of the scoreboard.
“Well ideally, the way we manage it is to keep it similar as the week before,” Scott said.
“We played well against Essendon in parts but we also played poorly in parts, we try and review the game with a balance towards those things and exclude the scoreboard to an extent.”
When it comes to a player performing poorly on the field, Scott firstly examines his own coaching methods, before he takes a further look at the individual player to identify the cause of the problem.
“Well it depends on the individual, I think that’s the key you’ve got to treat as individuals, every situation is slightly different,” Scott explained.
“As a coach, the first thing I look at is my performance, I make sure we’re giving him all the information and care that he needs.”
