Former Geelong midfielder Daniel Lowther has returned to the club in a part-time development coaching role.
Lowther, 37, played 34 games for the club from 1997 to 2001 after being recruited from the Northern Knights.
Following his AFL career, Lowther played with local clubs Bell Park and Portarlington where he was co-coach.
A local school teacher, Lowther was this year working with the Geelong Falcons and Victoria Country side in development roles.
Geelong Cats VFL and Academy manager Troy Selwood said the club was thrilled to have someone of Lowther expertise at the club.
“Daniel is a great acquisition for our program and someone we believe will have an immediate and significant impact on our younger players.” Selwood said.
"The fact that Daniel comes with an elite sport background as well as an education background makes him ideal for working with our younger players.”
Lowther will take the role vacated by former VFL player Mark Corrigan who has moved to a full-time role at Essendon.
