Two former Cats have found new homes as delisted free agency kicked off on Saturday.

Richmond confirmed on Sunday the signing of ex-Cat Taylor Hunt on a one-year deal.

The former Geelong midfielder had plenty of interest from three clubs – the Tigers, St Kilda and West Coast – after being delisted by the Cats, but has chosen to restart his career at Punt Road.

"We have been clear in our intention to add to our midfield during the off-season, and we believe Taylor will be a strong addition to the club," Richmond's general manager of football, Dan Richardson, said in a statement.

"Taylor will complement our playing list with his speed and versatility, and we are confident he has his best football ahead of him.

"While adding some experience in Taylor, we are still in a position to invest heavily in this year’s national draft, which was another of our aims as we prepare for the 2015 season.'

The delisted free agency window opened on Saturday. Hunt had met with the Eagles and was set to train with St Kilda next week.

Hunt's best season came in 2012, when he played 21 games for the Cats mainly as a run-with option through the midfield.

Hunt, who turns 24 this week, played just seven games in 2014 while struggling with a groin injury.

Meanwhile, the Western Bulldogs have added to their key defensive stocks by signing former Cat Joel Hamling as a delisted free agent.

The 21-year-old had been linked to Whitten Oval as soon as he parted ways with Geelong, and he joins the Dogs on second day of the delisted free agent window.

Hamling, who stands 194cm, failed to play a senior game in three seasons at Simonds Stadium.

"Getting in another key defender was important for us, and Joel adds a different dynamic to that group with his raw athleticism," Bulldogs list manager Jason McCartney said.

"Joel has been part of an elite development program at Geelong, and having watched closely throughout the year, we believe he is not far away from playing good consistent AFL football."

Hamling, who finished third in the Geelong's VFL best and fairest, is also capable of playing up forward, having booted five goals on one occasion this year.

The Bulldogs had interest in the Broome product in his draft year, but the Cats snapped him up with pick 32 in the 2011 NAB AFL Draft.

He is the second key defender the Bulldogs have secured in the past month after they recruited the highly rated Zaine Cordy through the father-son bidding system.

Clubs have until 2pm on November 13 to finalise their lists ahead of the draft.
