A tale as old as time, Geelong and St Kilda will write another chapter in their historic rivalry when the two teams meet on Saturday night. 

Dating back to the inaugural VFL season in 1897, the Cats and Saints have squared off in 223 matches, producing plenty of entertaining battles.

60.54 - The Cats win percentage across V/AFL history against the Saints. Total record to this point is 135 wins, 87 losses and one draw. 

228 - Geelong's highest total score against St Kilda. The score came in a clash during the 1989 VFL season, the Cats piling on 35 goals and their third highest score in a single match. 

54,444 - The highest crowd between the two teams at Marvel Stadium, also the highest attendance for an AFL match at the venue in history. The number came in a famous clash during the 2009 seasons, regarded as one of the best home and away matches in history.

Go back to arguably the best ever home and away game, as the Cats and Saints took part in a titanic tussle.

26 - The number of wins Geelong has had against St Kilda since the turn of the century. The Cats have a record of 26 wins, 12 losses and one draw from the start of 2000 AFL season, holding a 66.66% win rate against the Saints in that span. 

80 - Geelong's win percentage against St Kilda in Finals. The two teams have squared off in five Finals matches, with the Cats prevailing in four of them. 

161 - The Cats biggest winning margin in a game against St Kilda. This particular win came all the way back in the 1899 VFL season, Geelong holding the Saints to a single point for the entire match. 

75 - Chris Scott's winning percentage against the Saints during his tenure as Cats coach. Since the start of 2011, Scott has coached against St Kilda 18 times, only losing on four occasions.

16 - Geelong's longest winning streak against St Kilda. This stretch came between 1897 and 1903, back at the beginning of the VFL competition. 

66 - The Cats all-time winning percentage at Marvel Stadium, the venue for Saturday night's round two clash. 

30 - Ian Nankervis' record for the most official matches played by a Geelong player against St Kilda, during his 325 game career between 1967 and 1983. 

70 - The amount of times the Cats have kicked 100 or more points in a match against the Saints. 

33 - The biggest half time deficit Geelong has overcome against St Kilda, in the opening round of the 1987 season. The Cats clawed their way back to steal a one point victory at Moorabbin Oval.
