ALREADY ruled out of Friday night's semi-final with injury, Geelong veteran Corey Enright has opted to take his striking charge to the AFL Tribunal on Tuesday night.

The four-time All Australian defender was cited by the Match Review Panel on Monday for a hit on Fremantle's Chris Mayne during the Cats' qualifying final loss at the weekend.

The incident was deemed as intentional, low impact and body contact, enough for a one-week suspension.

Enright could have accepted a reprimand and 93.75 demerit points towards his future record by pleading guilty but, given a medial ligament strain will prevent him from facing Port Adelaide anyway, he can only gain by challenging.

Even if found guilty and suspended for a week, he will now be left with just 25 points against his name.

On Monday night, Cats football manager Neil Balme confirmed the 31-year-old would not play against the Power, making a possible one-match Tribunal sanction irrelevant.

"It [the medial strain] is not terrible, but he'll definitely miss this week," Balme told AFL.com.au.

The club is holding out hope that Enright will recover in time to return later in the finals, if the team can progress without him.

The Tribunal will sit at 5pm AEST.

Meanwhile, Mayne has accepted a reprimand for striking Enright's teammate Steve Johnson in the same match.
