Geelong’s VFL squad are looking to back up their round one victory this Saturday afternoon, taking on the Northern Bullants in their first home game of the season.     

The Cats will be looking to secure another early season win, following a stellar performance across the field last Sunday against Sandringham.

Dan Capiron will be leading the team in his 100th career VFL game, marking a significant milestone for Geelong's captain.

Last Time We Met

Geelong’s last clash against the Northern Bullants resulted in a massive win on their home turf in round three last season, besting the Bullants by 53 points at the final siren.

Helping to secure their first win of last season was Mitch Hardie who led the charge with 27 disposals and one goal, assisting him with some brutal forward pressure was Shaun Mannagh and his two goals that helped seal the game.

This game also showed promising signs of AFL-listed young guns Lawson Humphries (25 disposals, one goal) and Mitch Knevitt (23 disposals, one goal), both displaying brilliant performances in their first VFL win for the year.

Patrick Retschko

Quick and precise around the ball and a danger to any team out in open space, Patrick Retschko is one player to keep an eye on as he plays his second VFL match this Saturday.

Selected at pick #23 in the 2024 Telstra AFL Rookie Draft, Retschko stood out as a confident winger in last Sunday’s clash against the Zebra’s.

The debutant racked up 23 disposals and an impressive goal from deep in the pocket, showcasing his impressive work in aiding the Cats in their first win of the season.

The VFL Cats are in action at GMHBA Stadium this Saturday at 12.35pm with Geelong supporters encouraged to attend, entry is $10 for adults, $5 for concession holders and kids under 15 are free.
