Lowther on the Keys to Beating Richmond
For us there will be a focus around contested ball again, it has been a theme for a long period of time.
We want to get our hands dirty and make sure our hard ball gets are up, our contested ball numbers are in the right place and to then be able to get our hands on the footy.
If we can't win it around the contest, our uncontested numbers clearly drop which then diminishes the chances of moving the football in a way that suits our style.
It will be a focus around the contested possession for sure, then seeing if that can drive some territory for us so we can utilise our front half players who can put a good score on the board.
Our defence has been super the past few weeks, it’s time to give them a break and put the opposition defenders under some pressure.
Lowther on the Team Wide Improvement in 2023
Claudia Gunjaca is one in our defence who has certainly held her position really well, and improved again from last season which was also a breakout year for her.
Same with Chantel Emonson, her numbers have gone through the roof in comparison to last season as well.
Her ability to win possession, but also join in the attack has been really good.
Having Becky Webster back in defence has been really positive as well, they are just a few defenders to note.
Erin Hoare has been able to get better each week, which has allowed our midfielders to show some growth in that space.
Jackie Parry is another one for me, she was okay last year but then this year she has been consistently performing up front for us.
Then you have the likes of Nina Morrison and Georgie Prespakis, who have really developed the ability to turn a game on its head.
Lowther on the Preparation for a Pivotal Clash
I don't think there has been any change in our preparation.
If anything there will be a shift in messaging, to just play a brand of footy that we are used to and what we have trained for over a period of time.
Not to add any other elements to it that might overcomplicate anything, it's just about stripping back the layers to play a more instinctive style within the system we have.
It'll just be a reminder thing for me, as opposed to adding any extra elements to the game.
I want them to relax and enjoy the opportunity to play against another strong opposition, who sit in a similar spot to us in regards to their position on the ladder.
Lowther on the Race for Finals
The need to win now is really heightened.
The girls are pumped and primed for this weekend, and then next week as well to finish the season on a real positive.
We have shown patches over the past few weeks that we can play some good footy, but it's about putting all the pieces of the puzzle together over four quarters.
It's a ripper game to play, Saturday night under the lights at IKON Park and it'll have that finals feel for sure
