Geelong has named an unchanged team to take on Hawthorn in the final round of the home and away season. 

The Cats will back in the team that comfortably accounted for Richmond last weekend as they strive to finish the home-and-away season with a win and cement their spot in finals. 

It will be the first time Geelong has faced Hawthorn in the AFLW, with the league also celebrating Pride Round. 

The match will be a milestone celebration for defender Claudia Gunjaca, who is set to play her 25th AFLW game. 

A Cats fan growing up, Gunjaca played for Geelong West Giants in the AFL Barwon Women’s competition, before her studies took her to Sydney, where she had an impressive season playing for the UTS Bats and won AFL Sydney’s Mostyn Medal. 

When Gunjaca returned to Victoria, she joined Geelong’s VFLW team, starting as a defender before switching to attack, where she made a big impact. Voted straight into the team’s leadership group as Vice-Captain, Gunjaca finished the season as Acting Captain, leading the team to a grand final. 

She was recruited by the Cats’ AFLW program as a pre-draft mature-age signing ahead of Season 6. After starting as a forward for the Cats’ AFLW team, Gunjaca switched back to defence in Season 7, and has cemented her spot ever since, becoming a key cog in Geelong’s impressive back five.
