GEELONG will be out to break their recent bye hoodoo when they take on the Power at Adelaide Oval on Saturday night.
The match will be a special occasion for the club with Harry Taylor and Cam Guthrie set to celebrate their 250th and 150th games respectively.
READ – FIRST YEAR VFL CAT UPDATE
With both AFL and VFL teams having the week off, we look back at who were some of the better performers in the Cats last VFL outing against the Tigers prior to the bye.
Zach Guthrie
Named an emergency in round 12, Guthrie has been one of Geelong’s best performers in the VFL this season but may find it hard to break into a strong back six.
Charlie Constable (26 disposals, eight clearances, one goal)
Was a standout in Geelong’s round 10 VFL loss against Richmond. Constable was strong in the contest and found plenty of the ball to be named in the Cats’ best.
Lachie Fogarty (21 disposals, eight clearances, five tackles)
Pushed his case for his first AFL game of the year with another strong performance in the VFL.
Sam Simpson (20 disposals, five tackles, four score involvements)
Another Cat who appears to be on the fringe of selection after a run of consistent performances.
James Parsons (18 disposals, seven score involvements, two goals)
Appears to be next in line for a midfield/forward role after he was an unlucky omission from Geelong’s round 12 AFL side following two consistent performances against the Suns and Swans.
Scott Selwood (17 disposals, 10 tackles, six clearances)
Building his form nicely in the twos. Looks set to come under strong consideration in the coming weeks.
Wylie Buzza (Two goals, 15 disposals, six score involvements)
Was dangerous in attack last start with two goals and six score involvements.
Jed Bews (14 disposals, three inside 50s, two rebound 50s)
Geelong’s lockdown specialist could come under consideration to line up against the Power’s agile forward line.
Zac Smith (12 disposals, five clearances, 30 hit-outs)
Building some nice form in the middle after being omitted against the Tigers. Will be in the mix again this week.

Nathan Kreuger (Three goals, 11 disposals, three rebound 50s)
Continues to impress in his first season at the club at both ends of the ground. Was effective playing a defensive role in the first half before being swung forward in the second half and kicking three goals.
Darcy Fort (11 disposals, four marks, one goal)
Produced a solid performance in his last start. Competing with Esava Ratugolea for the forward/ruck role.
Ryan Abbott (23 hit-outs, two tackles)
Competed well in the ruck with 23 hit-outs.
