The AFL has today revealed that Geelong will take on Essendon at GMHBA Stadium as part of the 2024 AFL Community Series.
The Cats and the Bombers will face-off on Friday, March 1 at 5.10pm and the match will be broadcast on Foxtel and Kayo.
All 18 clubs will participate in AFL Community Series matches to be played between 27 February and 3 March at venues across the country and all members and kids will be able to attend the matches for free.
Games will take on the following format:
- Four quarters of 20 mins plus time on (as per AFL Premiership Season)
- Squad of 30 players, eight interchange, and four Emergencies. A Minimum of four players on the Interchange Bench during the match at any time.
- No interchange Cap.
- Full panel of umpires appointed by the AFL.
Tickets will go on sale in February with further information to be communicated in late January.
Geelong's full home and away fixture was announced in November, with Geelong to open the season against St.Kilda at GMHBA Stadium on Saturday, March 16 at 7.30pm.
It'll be the first time the Cats have had a home opener since 2014, and just the third time in 23 years.
