Tom Stewart had a milestone to remember in Geelong’s 19-point win over Adelaide on Friday night.
In his 150th game, Stewart equalled the AFL’s record for most intercept marks with 10 for the game in a dominant aerial display.
The Cats vice-captain was Geelong’s leading disposal winner with 28 touches at 89.3% efficiency in a complete performance.
Forward Jeremy Cameron was full of praise for his teammate post-game.
“It honestly felt like there were three or four of him out there tonight,” Cameron told Channel Seven broadcast post-match.
“It’s a wonderful thing to see him going up and marking the footy and then rebounding from there.
“He means so much to the group and he just inspires everyone to play better.”
Coach Chris Scott was equally glowing of Stewart's performance.
“It is hard to believe with what he has given our footy club that he has only played 150 games. It might be up there with the best 150 games ever played,” coach Chris Scott said at this post-game press conference.
“I am biased obviously, but the position he plays he is just special.”
“He had a great game full stop but to do it on his 150th. He had his family here and I thought it was just a really good night for our footy Club and all bodes well for what is possible for us this year."
Friday's victory moved the Cats record to 2-0 to start the season. Geelong's next opponent will be Hawthorn on Easter Monday at the MCG.
