Chris Scott and his side are excited about Saturday’s clash, as they prepare to face a big Melbourne club in front of a sold out GMHBA Stadium.

The Hawks have only visited Geelong twice since 2006, with one of those clashes in the covid affected 2020 season with no crowd in attendance.

With the Cats sitting in fifth on the ladder and Hawthorn winning seven of their last eight games, Saturday’s clash is one of the biggest games at GMHBA Stadium in recent times.

Chris Scott is looking forward to the prospect of playing in front of a big crowd, with an important match awaiting against an old rival.

“It is rare playing the Hawks down here,” Scott said.

“I know we played them through the Covid period, but the last time before that was 2006.

“It is good having one of the bigger Melbourne clubs down here, I don't want to be disrespectful to some of the other good teams we have played down here.

“Clearly with the new stadium, it is a sell out, I would be surprised if we didn't get a big crowd down here at GMHBA Stadium and it is in a good timeslot too, twilight on a Saturday afternoon.

“Our games against the Hawks over a long period of time have been good games, irrespective of ladder position.

“This one seems to be as good as any in recent time because of the way they are playing, they are clearly one of the form teams of the competition.”
