Stifling the reigning premiers on their home ground, the Cats recorded another important win to move back inside the top four, with uncontested marks at the forefront of another positive display.

Amassing their highest number of uncontested possessions (252) since round 23 in the 2022, Geelong took 70 more marks for the game, recording 21 more inside 50 entries than Collingwood.

It was another brilliant tactical display from Chris Scott and the coaching staff, with Jeremy Cameron crediting the playing group for being able to adapt to the different style.

“We thought that because of the way that Essendon did it the week before, that the Pies would clamp down on that a little bit, which would make us adjust the way we wanted to play,” Cameron told Triple M Saturday Rub.

“I think that's what is great about the side, we can adjust on the fly and the coaching staff are right on top of that.

“It worked out that way and it was a bit interesting forward of the footy, we were switching it, then switching it back, then switching again and you run a lot of junk metres in front of the footy.

“It seemed to work on the night, we are not going to play like that every week, but it is nice to go to that mode if we have to.”

Cameron was instrumental up forward for the Cats booting three goals against Collingwood to continue his good form, which has seen the Geelong star kick 12 goals in the past four weeks.

The victory over the Magpies was a third consecutive win for Geelong, now sitting firmly in the top four with six games remaining in the home and away season.

Regaining momentum and refining their style on the field, Cameron believes that the playing group are confident in what they can achieve this season.

“On the inside we are really bullish around what we can do and we are excited,” Cameron said.

“We know that if we can play the brand of football that we know we can, we can beat anyone on any given day.

“We have a lot of belief, there is a lot of youth and a fair few guys that weren't in the side a few years ago and they are really eager to go all the way.

“We did have a bit of a lull for five or six weeks in the middle of the season, but it’s about keeping the confidence in the young guys and letting them know that it will turn and it can turn quickly.

“We are excited for the back end of the season.”

The Cats will turn their attention to another important clash this Saturday, when they take on the Western Bulldogs at GMHBA Stadium in the Club’s Retro Game.
