Chris Scott is confident that his side is in a good position, sitting inside the top eight with a relatively healthy list just four weeks out from the end of the home and away season.

Every game is crucial over the final month of the regular season, with just two points separating second down to seventh on the ladder.

Coming off a strong win against North Melbourne last week, the Cats return home on Saturday for a clash with Adelaide at GMHBA Stadium as they celebrate Member Thank you Round.

Scott touched on Geelong’s progress heading into the last four weeks of the season in his press conference this morning.

“I think hitting your best form this time of year is important, but it's not compulsory either,” Scott said.

“You would prefer to hit that peak in the last four weeks of finals, but you have to get there as well and the competition is so tight.

“The positive for us is we do feel like our list is in pretty good shape, we have a few guys we would like to get back.

“For the most part not only do we have good availability, but we feel like we have guys who are feeling as good and are moving as well as they have for most of the year.”

Every team has seemingly been through plenty of ebbs and flows this year, with onlookers no closer to finding out who will make the top eight in a tightly contested season.

Scott said the job for the players and coaching staff is to ensure that they are in the best position possible, ready to attack every game over the final month of the regular season.

“It seems to me that you can't get carried away when you are going well and can't overreact when you are going badly,” Scott said.

“I can't come up with a team this year that hasn't had a bad patch at some point, that is the competition we are living in at the moment.

“Our responsibility is assuming that the team we are going to play is going well, and because we played well last week doesn't mean much going into this week.

“It is good for the game, it is hard to predict and it is really annoying for coaches and teams.

“Four games to go in the season, I think we have enough evidence to say that our best is going to be good enough.”

Tickets are still available for Geelong’s clash against Adelaide on Saturday, with the opening bounce at 4.35pm from GMHBA Stadium.
