Scott on the Cats Form with Four Games Remaining

I think hitting your best form this time of year is important, but it's not compulsory either.

The very best teams have got four weeks, then another four weeks of finals so you would prefer to hit that peak in the last four weeks of finals.

But you have to get there as well, the competition is so tight.

The positive for us is we do feel like our list is in pretty good shape, we have a few guys we would like to get back.

For the most part not only do we have good availability, but we feel like we have guys who are feeling as good and are moving as well as they have for most of the year.

Scott on the Even Competition

I could take a broader view when it comes to forecasting, it seems to me that you can't get carried away when you are going well and can't overreact when you are going badly.

I can't come up with a team this year that hasn't had a bad patch at some point.

That is the competition we are living in at the moment.

Our responsibility is assuming that the team we are going to play is in a patch where they are going well, and because we played well last week doesn't mean much going into this week.

If you have a bad day you have to move on quickly.

It is good for the game, it is hard to predict and it is really annoying for coaches and teams.

Four games to go in the season, I think we have enough evidence to say that our best is going to be good enough.

Scott on Rhys Stanley Returning

We think Rhys gives us more flexibility, that would be the thing to focus on the most.

Rhys has clearly played most of his footy in the ruck for us, but we think it has been a strength to have some flexibility with our tall guys.

De Koning has been really effective and he will play a fair bit up the ground throughout the rest of the year, it was always the plan to bring Stanley back at some stage.

Then Blicavs is a flexible player who can basically play anywhere.

The conditions have impacted our thinking a little over the past couple of weeks, so bringing Rhys back changes it but it doesn't set anything in stone.

It is still flexible enough for us to move it around in game.

Scott on the Success of Geelong's VFL Team

It is important.

A big part of developing young players is learning how to win, it is hard to recreate situations at training where you are in a close game and the opposition are trying to stop you.

They are valuable experiences, yes we would like them to win but I don't think we have moved away from development.

If we don't win it is not a disaster, we still prioritise individual development over team success.

Clearly if you are going to play finals, you would like to have VFL games to lean on.
