In amongst a strong defensive display for the Cats was a pair of brilliant performances, with Jack Henry and Jake Kolodjashnij playing crucial roles in curtailing Fremantle’s forward line.

The key defenders were instrumental in Saturday’s big win as Geelong held Fremantle to nine goals for the game, with only four of those goals coming from the Dockers starting forwards.

Jake Kolodjashnij had a number of big moments throughout the day picking off five intercept possessions, two intercept marks and four tackles on Saturday.

Jack Henry was also a solid contributor in nullifying Fremantle’s forwards, taking eight marks and accumulating a game high eight one percent efforts in a stifling performance.

The effort from Geelong’s defensive unit has been exquisite over the past seven weeks, not conceding a single score over 100 points, while holding five of their last seven opponents to 71 points or less.

Zach Guthrie was another strong performer against Fremantle, collecting 20 disposals and picking off a game high 11 intercept possessions in an impressive display.

Geelong were also bolstered by Mark Blicavs returning to the backline, with the versatile Cat collecting nine intercepts while spending valuable time in the ruck.
