For the first and only time in the 2024 season Geelong will play at Marvel Stadium, when they face St Kilda on Saturday night in the penultimate round of the home and away season.

In a strange fixture quirk, the Cats are yet to play under the roof this year after playing all six of their Melbourne matches so far at the MCG.

Geelong’s last clash at Marvel Stadium coincidentally came in the exact same round last year, also against St Kilda with the Cats set to make their return to the venue 12 months later.

Despite the most recent result, Geelong hold the highest win percentage of any team in AFL history at Marvel Stadium winning 66.5% of their games since the venue started hosting AFL games in 2000.

From 103 matches at the Docklands, the Cats have won 68 games and have scored over 100 points on 59 different occasions to hold a strong record.

Sydney is the only other team to hold a win percentage of 60% or greater at the stadium, with Geelong seeming to like the faster paced game under the roof.

The Cats also hold the highest score and biggest win at the venue, both coming in their 2007 clash against Richmond when they finished on a total score of 222 and defeated the Tigers by 157 points.

In terms of individual performances, Patrick Dangerfield shares the record for the most disposals in a single game alongside Tom Rockliff, when he amassed 48 possessions against North Melbourne in 2016.

Recent history is relatively consistent for Geelong at Marvel Stadium, winning 11 of their last 16 matches at the venue dating back to 2016.

The Cats will look to extend their strong record at the venue, when they face St Kilda at Marvel Stadium on Saturday night.
