Following the first All-Australian squad selection of his young career, Max Holmes has his sights firmly fixed on next Thursday as the Cats kick off their Finals campaign.

Holmes was named in the initial 44-player All-Australian squad earlier this week, rewarded for an impressive home and away season where he averaged over 24 disposals per game.

Despite the individual accolades, Holmes is focused on helping the team succeed in September, with Geelong heading to Adelaide Oval for a clash with Port Adelaide in a Qualifying Final.

Holmes spoke to Cats Media at the Geelong's fan meet and greet session on Wednesday, touching on how the team is preparing for the challenge that awaits next week.

“It gives us lots of confidence, Adelaide Oval has similar dimensions to GMHBA Stadium so it isn't too big a difference for us,” Holmes said.

“We have a pretty good recent record at the venue, if we can bring our best footy on the night then we will be happy.

“Obviously they have some stars through the midfield, we will have a few things in place to try and limit them.

“Last time we played them we didn't have Dangerfield playing, Stewart wasn't running through the midfield.

“We have some dangerous people in there right now which is exciting to see how they matchup against their strong midfield.”

The Club are hoping to have a strong contingent of fans in attendance next Thursday, including the Cats Convoy which will take a number of Geelong members to Adelaide for the game.

Holmes noted how important it is for the team to have the support behind them, especially on the road in enemy territory.

“It is very important to have that support on the road, especially at Adelaide Oval which can be a bit of a fortress,” Holmes said.

“It is a bit similar to here actually, so it would be awesome to see the Cats convoy get over there.

“It will be a great trip I am sure, I reckon they will enjoy it and it will be good to see them there.”
