The Cats will play their 21st game at Adelaide Oval this week, when they head to the City of Churches to take on the Power in Thursday night’s Qualifying Final.

Regarded as one of the tougher road trips in the competition, Geelong hold a relatively strong record at the venue since the redevelopment was completed in 2014.

The Cats first game in the new look stadium came in round six of the 2014 season, with Port Adelaide getting the better of Geelong on that occasion.

Over the past decade the Hoops have featured in 20 games at Adelaide Oval against four different opponents.

The Cats currently hold a record of 11 wins and 9 losses, the second most total wins by an interstate team at the venue.

Geelong have squared off with Port Adelaide 10 times at the venue, with the ledger currently sitting even at five wins apiece.

Recent history has been kind to the Cats at Adelaide Oval, winning four of their last five games at the venue dating back to round 19 in 2022.

High scoring games seem to suit Geelong better, winning nine of 11 games when they score 90 points or more.

The flip side to that stat is that the Cats record is not fantastic when they are held to a low total, only winning two of nine contests when they score less than 90 points.

Defensively Geelong have been strong at Adelaide Oval, only conceding over 100 points in 25% of their games at the venue.

The Cats will be looking to extend their solid history in Adelaide on Thursday night, when they kick off their 2024 Finals campaign against the Power.
