It may have gone unnoticed by many pundits but Gryan Miers has put together another prolific campaign in 2024 to help Geelong return to Finals action.

The skilful small forward averaged career highs in disposals and clearances this season, while once again leading Geelong in goal assists.

Playing higher up the ground most weeks, Miers still had an impact on the scoreboard kicking majors in 12 different games while doubling his goal tally from 2023.

Entering September in impressive form, Miers said he is confident in his own ability as he looks to help the Cats make a deep Finals run.

“I have been quite happy with my year, it hasn't been as statistically focused this season,” Miers said during his press conference.

“It has been more, and this has been my whole career, finding where I can fit into the team and where I can play my best footy. Sometimes that reward gets your more disposals because of your role or you get more goal assists, but this year I have had to adapt no matter what the team looks like.

“Most weeks I have had some sort of influence, you go in and out form a little bit but over the course of the whole year I have been confident in my abilities.

“I feel like I have helped in different ways every week, trying to be a little bit more unpredictable with where I am going to set up and how I am going to play.”

Geelong will kick off their Finals campaign on Thursday night with a blockbuster Qualifying Final against Port Adelaide.

For Miers and a number of Cats players, Thursday’s clash is set to be the third time they have faced the Power in a Final at Adelaide Oval.

The previous experience is set to come in handy, with Miers noting how much he enjoys the electric atmosphere on the road.

“The best part is that I and a number of other players have done it twice before,” Miers said.

“The result didn't work out the way we wanted, but we at least had the experience of playing over there.

“Port Adelaide do it really well, they have amazing fans that support their side through anything and then they also pump them up really well before a game, but that also gets us excited too.”
