Geelong is mourning the passing of past player Ron Warren, who has passed at the age of 95.

Warren played five senior games in the 1949 season, in addition to 68 Reserves games between 1947 and 1951. His senior games at the Cats were under coach Reg Hickey, and he played alongside some of the future greats of the club – getting games at senior level was not an easy task.

Originally from East Geelong, Ron continued to support the Geelong Cats throughout his life, and even most recently attending and supporting his beloved Cats in the Round 24 win against West Coast. He also attended the 2022 AFL Grand Final at the age of 93, watching his beloved Cats bring home their 10th Premiership Cup.

Ron passed away peacefully on Thursday 20 September 2024 surrounded by his loving wife Winsome and close family members. A true gentleman, always with a twinkle in his eye and a joy to be around.

Vale Ron, we will miss you deeply!
