The Brownlow Vote Count may not have seen any Cats challenge the top end of the leaderboard, but what it did show was Geelong’s even list of contributors across the 2024 season.

The Cats had 13 different players register a vote on Brownlow night, which was more individual vote getters than the likes of Sydney, Port Adelaide and Fremantle.

Three Geelong players polled the first votes of their careers on Monday including Jack Bowes (four votes), Zach Guthrie (four votes) and Ollie Dempsey (three votes).

Another Cat who polled well was Tanner Bruhn, who went into the night with only one career Brownlow vote and left with seven more in 2024.

As a team Geelong finished the night with 68 total votes, which ranked ninth in the competition.

Looking down the Cats leaderboard truly highlighted the even spread, with not one player in particular accounting for a large portion of team votes.

Jeremy Cameron led the team with 16 votes, making up just 23.5% of the Cats total votes in 2024.

By comparison Patrick Cripps’ incredible total saw him take out the award, but he also recorded 51.7% of Carlton’s total votes, while Tom Green polled 31.8% of GWS’ team votes.

Extending this out to include the top two vote getters at each club, Jeremy Cameron and Tom Stewart only combined for 41.2% of the Cats total votes on Brownlow night.

Comparing this to some of the other top four teams, Zak Butters and Jason Horne-Francis accounted for 57.1% of Port Adelaide’s total votes, while Isaac Heeney and Errol Gulden polled 51.5% of Sydney’s votes.

Fremantle, who polled the third most votes of any team in the competition, also had a far higher percentage with Caleb Serong and Andrew Brayshaw combining for 57.1% of their total votes.

What all these numbers show is that Geelong is certainly not reliant on one single player, with plenty of positive signs coming from their 2024 campaign.
