There are not many footballing stories more fascinating than Nina Morrison's, but her rise from highly touted youngster to Geelong superstar has been nothing short of incredible.

This weekend will see Morrison play her 50th AFLW game, a well deserved milestone that has required plenty of persistence and resilience to reach.

The tough midfielder's journey started at junior level, representing Vic Country and the Geelong Falcons while also playing in the VFLW as an underage talent.

Dominating whatever level she played at, Morrison won multiple awards and built an impressive resume in her junior career, landing on the radar of AFLW teams as a highly touted prospect.

Morrison also excelled at the Draft Combine in 2018, breaking records in certain tests and showing plenty of her talent in the lead up to the 2018 AFLW draft.

Geelong selected Morrison with the number one pick in the draft, commencing her career in the AFLW.

The on-baller took no time adjusting to the top level, earning a Rising Star nomination in her AFLW debut in the opening round of the 2019 season, collecting 22 disposals and eight tackles against Collingwood.

But unfortunately her blistering start to the season was short lived, Morrison rupturing her ACL at training the following week and requiring a full knee construction.

After missing the rest of 2019, Morrison came back at the beginning of 2020 and picked up where she left off, slotting into the Geelong line-up and having a significant impact each week.

In the final round of the 2020 season, Morrison suffered another devastating blow when she ruptured her ACL again, an injury that would see her miss the 2021 season.

Despite the testing period in her career, the star midfielder showed incredible persistence and resilience to make a return in 2022 (Season 6).

Since then Morrison has been an integral part of the Cats team, becoming Geelong's Vice Captain and finishing third in the Club's best and fairest in 2023.

2024 has been another dominant year for the on-baller, averaging 20 disposals and seven tackles per game to be a leader through the middle for the Cats.

At just 23 years of age, the sky is the limit for Morrison as she prepares to play her 50th AFLW game on Friday night against Kuwarna (Adelaide).
