Geelong Cats are pleased to announce Taylah Hassett has been appointed as VFLW Senior Coach for 2025.
Hassett has come through the football pathways in Geelong and the south-west region, having played for Colac Imperials and AFL Barwon Division 1 reigning premier Grovedale Tigers, as well as being co-coach of the senior women’s team at the Tigers the past two seasons.
Hassett has also been involved in the Geelong Falcons program as a player and a coach, coaching a team in the V/Line Cup competition. She has also worked with AFL Victoria in its Participation team, and was involved in the Geelong Cats Women’s Football Coach Development Program in 2024.
The appointment comes after outgoing VFLW Senior Coach Elise Coventry made the decision to step down from the role to focus on her growing family commitments and her role as an assistant coach with Geelong’s AFLW team.
“We are thrilled to welcome Taylah to the Club as our new VFLW Senior Coach,” Geelong Cats Assistant General Manager – Football Brett Johnson said.
“Taylah has an impressive resume as player and coach, she is a young emerging leader in the community, and we believe her connection to AFL Barwon and the development pathways in the greater Geelong and Colac areas will be of great benefit to our program.
“The Club would also like to take the opportunity to thank Elise for her time leading our VFLW program for the past two seasons, in addition to the roles she has held with our AFLW program and Next Generation Academy.”
