Geelong's VFL team are back in action this week, set to take on Sandringham at Trevor Barker Beach Oval on Sunday afternoon. 

After an exciting 2024 season which saw the Cats return to Finals for the first time in five years, the team will be looking to take the next step into Premiership contention this year. 

Mark Corrigan will lead the team as head coach once again, while defender Dan Capiron has been re-appointed as captain for the 2025 season.

Last Time We Met 

Geelong's most recent clash with Sandringham came in the final round of last year's home and away season, with the Cats securing a thrilling 13 point victory over the Zebras. 

Needing a win to secure a spot in the top four, Geelong broke clear in a tight contest with five goals in the third term, led by Mitch Hardie who collected 29 disposals, 12 tackles, eight clearances and two goals. 

Brandan Parfitt (30 disposals, 12 clearances) and Jed Bews (23 disposals, one goal) were also instrumental, as the Cats secured an important victory.

Jack Martin 

Talented forward and exciting new recruit, Jack Martin is set to pull on the Hoops for the first time in an official match on Sunday afternoon. 

Martin has featured in 151 AFL games for both Gold Coast and Carlton, before joining Geelong at the end of 2024 as a free agent. 

With an ability to play in multiple positions across the ground, watch for Martin to make an impact in his first game for the Cats on Sunday.
