Scott on the takeaways from Sunday

There was a combination of things that added up to a lot.

Sometimes you have those days, you hope they are rare and you lose by 70 points. I thought we hung in and we gave ourselves a chance to win, but every time we looked like drawing level we made another error.

Their hustle in and around the ball was really good, that is their game and they support the contest. Especially early in the game they were strong there, but we gave them plenty of chances with the way we used the ball and the way we failed to put them under pressure.

They have got too many good players to let them play the way they want.

Scott on the defensive unit

If you lose to Carlton, you normally think Curnow and McKay would have slaughtered us.

We are really confident in our future, given the way we have held up the last month or so. We haven't had Jack Henry for a bit, we haven't had Kolodjashnij, Blicavs was out for a game, Stewart was out for a game.

We went into the game thinking Connor O'Sullivan as a 19 year old was going to play on Curnow or McKay, De Koning on the other one for big parts.

They are super players but I didn't think they slaughtered us, I thought our backs really held up under extreme pressure early on.

Scott on Tom Stewart's knock

It was a contact thing.

My understanding is that it sounded like a knee cap, so structurally it was okay but he was very sore.

He was limited, but you know us well enough that with gun players, we are not putting them out there if we thought we were going to put next week at risk.

He was limited, it was a good effort to keep punching on.

Scott on the six day break

We have got a great record off six day breaks, and I think sometimes those records can be manipulate to tell a story.

We didn't think that had an impact today, but it is a quirky fixture.

We get that Easter Monday, Anzac Day and Gather Round all impact it, there are anomalies but the AFL have done a pretty good job to make sure teams that have some parity there.

I don't think we are looking at it thinking we are off a short break and they are off a long break, that wasn't an excuse today.
