Gary Ablett’s manager Liam Pickering says he believes the Little Master is a 60 to 70 per cent chance of playing on next year.
Ablett is weighing up a 19th season at the top level with a decision expected in the coming week.
“My gut feel is he probably will (play on), but I don’t know. That’s the answer… he hasn’t decided yet,” Pickering said on AFL Trade Radio.

“That was always the plan for him, finish the season, let it breathe a little bit, get away with his family and have a bit of a chat and then confirm either way whether he will or he won’t with the club.
“He’s going into another AFL season. You’ve got to be ready for the whole lot. You’ve got to be ready to give another year’s worth of your life basically.
“The club are comfortable with that and we’re all in a comfortable position – we’re just waiting for Gaz.”
Both Pickering and Cats list and recruiting manger Stephen Wells confirmed both parties had agreed on contract terms – should Ablett choose to go around again.
“We’ve spoken to Gary about his future and if he does decide to play, he knows the contract arrangements that he’d be playing under,” Wells said on SEN Breakfast.
“He’s weighing everything up as he’s said publicly. If I had to guess I’d say he will play but I won’t be surprised if he doesn’t either.”
