GEELONG captain Joel Selwood has pointed out there is still plenty of hard work ahead of the Cats despite the club’s fast start to 2019.

Selwood says starting the season without a blemish in the loss column doesn’t mean the club has been faultless in its execution.

“We’ve still got a hell of a lot of work to do,” Selwood said.

“At times we were probably a bit easy to score against, against the Crows. We’ve just got to make sure we keep fine-tuning and keep building what we started.”

“We had a pretty tough start, we had three games in 13 days which is a pretty hard sort of slog.  We had a bit of a freshen up on the weekend and now the boys are back in at it.”

This weekend’s Saturday afternoon faceoff with the Giants will provide yet another opportunity for the new-look Cats to test themselves against some of the stiffest competition in the league.

Selwood says he hasn’t been surprised by the efforts of the team’s youngest members, with Tom Atkins, Gryan Miers, Charlie Constable, Jordan Clark all impressing across the first three rounds.

“They’ve done a good job but we sort of knew that they were there. They’ve been training up really hard and we’ve sort of demanded them to do it too.  They’ve stepped up and been ready to take it on.”

“The older boys have been playing pretty well too. Paddy (Dangerfield), Harry (Taylor) and Tom (Hawkins) are three that come to find that have been really strong out there.

“Being around Geelong at the moment, the feeling is really good.
