We take a look at which Cats are in the selection mix for our elimination final against the Demons at the MCG on Friday night.
Lachie Fogarty (18 disposals, 12 clearances, five tackles)
The best by ‘a country mile’ according to VFL coach Shane O’Bree in the 91-point loss to Casey. In a performance that was damning around the contest, Fogarty stuck his tackles and was as clean as they come. Backing up his 26 disposal, seven tackle performance from last week. He is a good chance to come back into the senior side for Friday.
Rhys Stanley
Needs to overcome a calf injury that has kept him sidelined since round 19. Coach Chris Scott has already said that they won’t risk it if he isn’t 100% fit.
Jordan Cunico (18 disposals, five tackles)
It wasn’t his best performance, but Cunico was one of the better players against Casey. His 32 disposal, two-goal performance from the previous week should still put him in the frame.
Esava Ratugolea (Four disposals, five tackles, 18 hitouts)
In his second game back from a broken ankle, Ratugolea got through unscathed and competed well in the ruck in tough conditions. Played more minutes, but may need another week in the VFL before putting himself in the frame for an AFL recall.
Jackson Thurlow (14 disposals, five hard ball gets, four rebound 50s)
Was not allowed any room to move in the VFL, but still managed to finish inside the top half dozen Cats for disposals. When he did find space, he used the ball quite well and was better in the contest than most of his peers with five clearances and five hard ball gets.
