The Cats have surpassed 50,000 members in the quickest time in their 159-year history.
The 50,000th member, Glen, was signed up along with his three children at the Cats Family Festival at GMHBA Stadium on Saturday morning.
Thousands of members and fans piled into the Cats home ground where they’ll play nine home games in 2018, the most this millennium.
The increase in games in Geelong has seen a dramatic increase in season seat holders driving the Cats unprecedented membership total.
Combined with the return of premiership hero and member of the club’s most famous footballing family, Gary Ablett Jnr, the club’s members have resonated with the 2018 membership campaign of Stand Proud, with the club looking to surpass 60,000 members for the first time in their history.
And with the AFL announcing the Cats would field an AFLW side in 2019, a raft of new members have also signed up to be Geelong Cats womens pioneer members, continuing the groundswell of support for womens football in the Geelong region.
