We take a look at which Cats are in the selection mix ahead of our round eight match against the Magpies on Sunday.
Gary Ablett
Was very close to playing against the Giants, but Geelong opted to play it safe and give Gaz an extra nine days to get his hamstring right. Would be close to first picked against Collingwood.
Zac Smith
Was a late withdrawal due to a back spasm on Friday night and with the form he was producing in the VFL, Smith could come straight back into the side to tackle the in-form Brodie Grundy.
Harry Taylor
The experienced defender is closing in on a return to football. Would be a risk to put him straight back into the AFL side, so might need a couple of VFL games to build some match fitness.
Daniel Menzel
If he can prove his fitness on the track this week, Menzel will be a certainty to line up against the Pies on Sunday. Currently sitting 10th in the Coleman Medal, Menzel is one of the in-form forwards in the competition.
George Horlin-Smith
Missed last week due to effects of a concussion but would be a real chance to retake his spot in the side for game number 50. Adds a hard edge to the Cats midfield.
Charlie Constable
VFL form can’t be ignored for long, so when will we see this talented youngster put on the hoops for the first time? Constable has impressed from day one and his performances at VFL level means he will be at the front of selectors minds again this week.
