Geelong forward James Parsons admits it may not have been his side’s best performance against Fremantle, but a win is a win.
Down by as much as 34 points against the Dockers and without not only skipper Joel Selwood but defender Tom Stewart and midfielder Darcy Lang, the Cats rallied for a memorable two-point win at Simonds Stadium.
“We didn’t play our best footy, but to come away with the four points [I’m] really happy and it was a good fight in the last half,’ Parsons told Cats Media post-match.
“When we’re down, we try to go back to the fundamentals – just getting it in as many times as we can and make sure the big boys were getting up in the contest and the small boys get to the fall of it.”
“That’s what we did and [I was] lucky enough to get on the end of a few.”
In just the seventh game of his career, the 20-year-old kicked two critical, last-term goals in quick succession to give the Cats hope, and says he is starting to find his way at AFL level
“I’m getting more comfortable. As the weeks go on, it’s never an easy game. Every week you’ve got to fight and dig hard,” he said.
Parsons had 14 disposals to go with is two goals in Sunday’s win.
