Saturday night's loss to Gold Coast at Metricon was very disappointing.

The Suns were able to rack up 71 inside-50s and post their highest score in games against the Cats.

But it's far from all doom and gloom.

There were some really good signs from one of our lesser-known players, Sam Menegola, who was an excellent contributor after receiving a late call-up due to Lachie Henderson getting injured in the warm-up.

Menegola finished with 22 disposals and three impressive goals, an effort that will ensure he gets a run in Saturday night's Powercor Country Festival game against Essendon at the MCG.

Looking at the big picture, a 5-2 start to the season is not a bad result at all, and the Cats remain in the top four, which is where they want to be come September.

But as Chris Scott and his men begin their preparations for the clash with the Bombers, they have plenty of things to work on.
