Cats draftee Tim Kelly has plenty on his plate as he looks forward to starting his first pre-season with Geelong.
The 23-year-old’s partner is expecting twins, and their arrival will make for a very busy household, given they already have a two-year-old son.
The twins are due in January but Kelly is preparing for their arrival any day.
“Twins are notoriously known for coming very early,” he told krockfootball.com.au.
“My partner and I have spoken to people who have had twins at 25, 26, 28 weeks.
“My partner’s now 32 weeks. We’re hoping that they stay in for a few more weeks, but it looks as if it could potentially happen any day now.
“I’ve just got so much to look forward to right now. It’s the happiest time of my life to be honest.”
The Cats took Kelly, who finished runner-up in this year’s Sandover Medal after an outstanding season in the WAFL with South Fremantle, with pick 24 in Friday night’s NAB AFL Draft.
Although the skilful midfielder knows that moving from the west coast to the east coast will be a big challenge, he is rapt to be continuing his career at GMHBA Stadium.
“To be completely honest, it’s been a stressful last couple of weeks just not knowing what’s going to unfold draft night,” Kelly said.
“Right now, I’m the most relaxed I’ve been in the last several weeks, because I know what’s happening, I know where my life’s heading, and I can plan forward now.
“I’m absolutely stoked, I’m just so grateful to the club – especially the list managers and recruiters – for showing such great faith in me.
“I just can’t wait to repay the faith with hopefully some good footy, and I’m just looking forward to meeting all the boys and hopefully making a good impression.”
