Preseason games are the perfect time for fans to enjoy some highlights and get excited about recruits and young prospects.
We look back over the past few years at moments that brought Geelong fans to their feet during the preseason.
March 11, 2018, – Zach Tuohy sends a monster torpedo halfway across Colac
The torpedo that stopped a small country town. During Geelong’s 2018 preseason game against Essendon, Zach Tuohy hit the launch button full back on a kick in. He sent the footy halfway down Central Reserve Oval in Colac, leaving Fox Footy commentators Anthony Hudson and Gary Lyon in awe.
February 17, 2017 – ‘Tomahawk’ with the accidental strike on goal - WATCH
Sometimes the ball just bounces your way. After kicking the ball off the ground to clear the pack, Hawkins was on the right end of a lucky bounce. He just watched in surprise as it rolled past the behind post and through the goals.
February 26, 2016 – Welcome to Geelong, Patrick Dangerfield - WATCH
Who wouldn’t get excited about having Patrick Dangerfield join their club? In his first game in the hoops on home turf, ‘Danger’ produced a dominant performance against Collingwood. He kicked three goals and found plenty of the sherrin with 28 disposals.
March 12, 2015 – Mitch Clark kicks a bag of six - WATCH
What a preseason game this was. Not only did fans see the potential of Cockatoo, they also saw recruit Mitch Clark kick six goals, including three in the first quarter. After retiring in 2014 and making a comeback onto Geelong’s list, this was the feel-good story of the 2015 preseason.
March 12, 2015 – Nakia Cockatoo shows off his speed - WATCH
In Nakia Cockatoo’s second preseason game, the young star showcased his pace and kicking ability. He produced a miraculous goal early in the third quarter, breaking away from several opposition players and kicking the footy 70 metres for an incredible super goal.
