Geelong utility Mark Blicavs could make a shock return to football as soon as this weekend, recovering sooner than expected from a broken leg.
The 26-year-old has not played since round 18’s loss to Adelaide, in which he sustained ligament damage to his ankle in the same incident which saw the key Cat limp to the boundary with a leg fracture.
But according to Cats’ head physio Mark Young on this week’s GHMBA Health Report, early indications suggest Blicavs will line up against the Giants on Saturday night at Simonds Stadium.
“'Blitz' is going really well – ahead of expectation actually,” Young said.
“He’s joined in the footy this week and moved well. We’ll test him again tomorrow at main training, but he’s a chance this week and he’ll be a test.”
