Zach Tuohy has no doubt the Cats can match it with Greater Western Sydney at Spotless Stadium on Saturday night, regardless of whether Joel Selwood plays.
The Giants sit atop the ladder after 14 rounds, and they present a great challenge for a Geelong side coming off a thrilling two-point win over Fremantle on Sunday afternoon.
"It's very exciting," Tuohy told Cats Media.
"Obviously a good win last week, but we understand we didn't play our best footy.
"So to get a chance to challenge ourselves against probably the best team in the comp is exciting."
Tuohy and his fellow defenders will have their work cut out keeping GWS's power-packed forward line under control.
"They've got strengths all over the field on every line, and we'll address that as the week goes on," Tuohy said.
"But we think we've got some dangerous players as well, so it's going to be interesting."
As for the makeup of the Cats' line-up on Saturday night, Tuohy will be going into the game with confidence no matter how many changes are needed from the side that beat Fremantle.
"We can't really control who gets up and plays," Tuohy said.
"We've got a lot of good players, we've got a lot of depth, and if one solider goes out another one comes in.
"It'll be a big challenge ... but we're confident we're still a big chance."
