A Gabba loss increases appetite
Despite the Lions being a difficult match-up, the Cats have the weapons to come away from the Gabba with a win.
On Argue the Toss James Kelly and Adam McNicol spoke about last year’s infamous clash at the Gabba, when the Cats lost the game on the closing siren after leading the whole way.
McNicol says a defeat like that wouldn’t hinder the Cats but increase their appetite to win and take back the game that got away.
“The Cats were 52 points up with 40 minutes of the game to go and got rolled by one of the most extraordinary comebacks - I think it was the eighth greatest comeback in the history of the game,” McNicol explained.
“I’m certainly not saying it’s playing on the Cats mind this year in a bad way, I think when you have those kind of loses it will only motivate the team...”
Kelly admits the Cats have found the Lions to be a difficult match up in recent years. However, it’s nothing the Cats can’t overturn.
“Yeah they are a little bit, it’s probably just a bit of a mindset thing too,” Kelly said.
“I think a couple of times we’ve played them maybe we weren’t on as much as we should have been. If one team is going as well as they can and the other is five or 10 percent off you can lose on any day.
