Geelong recruit Sam Menegola is aiming to force his way up the midfield pecking order with some strong performances in the NAB Challenge.
The 23-year-old former Fremantle and Hawthorn rookie had a slow start to his first pre-season at the Cattery as he battled to shrug off a bout of groin soreness.
But he has been a standout performer in both the running and match-simulation drills in the past couple of months.
He now has his eye on forcing his way into the AFL team for the start of the premiership season.
“I definitely want to play senior football,” Menegola told CatsTV during an interview that forms part of the pre-season video series
“We’ve got a pretty good list, so it’s certainly not going to be a team that you just walk into for anyone.
“I’ve got plenty of work to do. I guess through the NAB Challenge we’ll sort of find out where we sit with it all.
“But clearly senior footy’s what I want to do.”
